Part of the lure of the Kool-Aid is the Kool-Aid itself. The movement! The dream! The people! The Great Good! Soma! Tasty.
The hope is a glorious mirage. Why not chase it down?
PS. Change is the worst political slogan ever. (well, aside from 'progress' or 'solidarity', perhaps).
PPS. What if you're smart enough to know that the authority is smarter than you? Why ask questions then?
PPPS. There may be no external world.
